We always do everything in our power to save pets, however, we’re aware that recovery isn’t always possible. This is a position no loving pet owner wants to be in, but it’s sadly a natural part of welcoming these beautiful beings into our homes and families.
At Nexus, we offer professional, compassionate end-of-life consultations to discuss your options. Our recommendation will depend on quality of life and whether alternatives like palliative care or pain management are appropriate. No matter what you decide, we’ll support you during this difficult time.
Your pet’s needs always come first. If euthanasia is the right choice, you won’t be alone, and their final hours will be as gentle and peaceful as possible.
Sometimes, privacy matters more than anything. While our open-plan facility keeps you and your pet together as much as possible, saying goodbye deserves its own quiet, dedicated space. That’s why Nexus offers a private room where you can be with your pet through every moment, if that’s what you choose.
Your pet means the world to you – we know. One of the reasons that inspired the birth of Nexus was our commitment to supporting both pets and their people, especially during the toughest moments. Losing a pet is hard, and tears are natural. We also provide a discreet exit so you don’t have to walk back through a busy waiting area.
You deserve as much time as you need to say goodbye. It’s an important part of the grieving process. We’ll make sure those last moments are calm and filled with plenty of love and affection from you.
We promise honesty, compassion and open communication as we walk with you through the stages of end-of-life care. There will be no pressure. This process is personal, and you’re free to navigate it at your own pace.
Following euthanasia, and when you’re ready to, we’ll discuss options like cremation or home burial. If you haven’t given it much thought before, that’s okay, feel free to ask any questions you have. We’re also able to facilitate keepsakes to honour your pet and the beautiful memories you made in the time you spent together.
Our support doesn’t end when you leave Nexus. Grief takes time, and the days and weeks ahead will be bittersweet as you remember the good times and deeply miss your pet. If you need additional help, we can connect you with the right resources.
Dr Gosliga, THANK YOU for your tender care. My 14 year old rescue, Maya, had suddenly become very ill and the diagnosis was sepsis leading to organ failure. You discussed the treatment options in a compassionate way. We agreed on supportive care to improve her comfort, and then taking her to familiar surroundings for euthanasia at home. We miss Maya so much, but the quality of her last hours were in no small part due to your quick willingness to lend what helpful support you could.
